Tell Us About Yourself and What the DAB Means To You

46 Year Old Stroke Survivor in Menomonee Falls Wisconsin
My name is John Roberts. I am 46 and live in Milwaukee. I am married and and two boys 13 & 16. I started listening to the DAB a few months after my stroke at age 41. Like one of the people Brian often describes, I was on iTunes looking for a way to get back into the Bible & searched for an Audio Bible Podcast. Since day one, I was hooked. I am paralyzed on my left side, and it is so nice to be able to get in the Word without having to fumble with my Bible one-handed. My wife & I are both believers and attend a great church in Germantown, Wisconsin. Although I am not angry at God about my stroke, I still am struggling with the "what now" aspect. I was a pianist and was considering a future as a worship leader. I still play keyboards a couple of times a month for our services, but I am not sure what God needs me to do now. I just don't know how I should be serving Him now. Any prayers or encouragement would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums John. We are almost neighbors. I live in Milwaukee. I agree that the audio aspect of the Word is a rich addition to my life. I don't have to fumble with my Bible (at least not too much), but the audio aspect of it works well for me!

Yes, welcome to the forums. I am 40 myself with two young boys. I can't imagine what you are going through. But I hear hope in your introduction. So I am encouraging you to keep your hopeful perspective. You are on a journey with the rest of us and it's good to be together with our Father.

Welcome John, praying for you. Dealing with broken ribs in recent motorcycle accident but I still say that was one of the best days since becoming a Christian. My wife (unbeliever) wouldn't pray with me while in the ambulance, but then doctors said something likely punctured/scraped my lungs because I had air bubbles/pockets in my chest cavity. I had many people praying for me but asked her even if she didn't believe in "my God" to pray for me... in tears by my bedside still in the emergency room, in a full neck brace she said she already had... A few hours later (and a CATSCAN) doctors said they couldn't find the tear so it must have "healed itself". I just think it is awesome my wife was willing to pray at least once. Praying that your true purpose will be revealed to you soon.

God needs what you think is your little and He will make it alot! You play only a couple of times a month, but take the word only out. You play a couple of times each month unto the Lord and He loves it! And what a testimony to others in your ministry who see you still moving forward despite the events of your life. May God light a fire in their hearts when they see you play those times that you do! May God's healing and peace continue to flow through your body. You've encouraged me today.
