Hi I'm a fairly established listener, but only just getting in to the community spirit!
I've been a Christian all my life, well since I was five years old but growing up in a Christian home I never really made effort in my relationship with God I just took it for granted, in the same way I thought the family pet would never die.
I began struggling with self harm and eating disorders from the age of 13, it went unchecked for so long because everyone expected a teenager to be moody and withdrawn. I've had the self-destruct button permanently pressed down all my life, always hurting myself and putting myself through endless trials rather than talk to God.
Having nearly died from anorexia and planned my own suicide three times, God never stopped fighting to save me and through the internet, I met someone who recommended the daily audio bible relentlessly until I started listening! I'm also planted in a wonderful church and every day finding new resources to help my faith come alive and flourish. I'm eternally grateful for God never giving up on me and saving me from myself.
I love falling asleep listening to the DAB as I can't sleep in silence! I love hearing the prayer requests and people responding to each other, the idea of community and people serving each other is so important and something I so want to be a part of. I can't shout enough about how much God has done and how amazing he is, and how much love it must take to try and save such a previously ungrateful child like me! And when I heard there was even MORE to the daily audio bible like this site I thought I have to get involved!
